For anyone who enjoyed the game To the Moon, including myself, there was some pretty cool news revealed yesterday. Kan Gao, director and composer for Freebird Games, shared on YouTube that the game is becoming an animated feature film. Details on the production are somewhat light at the moment, though he states it is a collaborate project between China and Japan, and it will be done by first tier Japanese animation companies. Also, Kan Gao will be part of the scripting and advising process, so it should remain a faithful telling of the story.

For those of you who have not played To the Moon, it is a narrative story following two doctors that enter the memories of the dying to give them a dying wish. In this game the wish is to go to the moon. As they work toward this goal, they discover suppressed tragedies in the patient's life and question if revealing those memories and granting the wish will do more harm than good. It is a very emotional game and quite an experience so I am quite interested in seeing how this film turns out.
