Gpu pcie 6 pin to 8 pin adapters

Recommended Posts

Was just given a Zotac GTX770 (regular 2gb version) to replace my HD6870 (1gb) but my psu only has 6 pin cables (modular psu) and I've been looking at adapters and only seem to find goofy looking ones that are around 6" long and will totally muck up my cable management.

Is there any nice short ones? Or maybe sleeved that are not $20+

Depends on how picky you are but

https://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-Express-PCIE-6-Pin-to-8-Pin-Graphics-Card-Power-Adapter-Cable-for-Nvidia-ATI/122001651096?hash=item1c67dd7598:g:5FIAAOSwY0lXTOit

that is the least crazy one I found quickly looking, I know powercolor shipped a really short sleeved one with my 290x (gave it to a friend) but that's the only one like it I've seen.

Depending on your PSU you may be able to get a new modular cable something like this https://www.ebay.com/itm/Seasonic-Modular-PSU-8-Pin-to-6-2-PCIe-Sleeved-Cable/263503044430?hash=item3d5a015f4e:g:KLgAAOSwZA1aiF5sas an alternate but that's going to really vary by brand and model.

Deffinatly better than the yellow and black ones (would be a sore thumb in a black space with blue accents)

Not having much luck finding any cables that will work with my psu so far (going to test the output of the 2 blank spots on where my 6 pin hooks to the psu to see if they are grounds)

Part of me is tempted to just buy the cheapest adapter i can find and shorten it to as short as i can but not sure how it would turn out lol.

Make sure that you have a good to great power supply though.  The GTX 770 still draws quite a bit and you'll need that coming from an above average 12v rail.

Can you believe that price, over $30.00 for a piece of wire !

Performance PC,.. http://www.performance-pcs.com/6-pin-pci-express-to-8-pin-pci-express-2-0-adapter-cable-4-sleeved.html

4" sleeved 6-pin to 8-pin Adapter $4.95 "select your color",.. or you can go with an Extension cable sleeved or braided, and go like 18" so connection is hidden.
