I am a bit late writing this up, but either soon or right now the largest battle in EVE Online is going on. Some of you might remember hearing about an EVE Online battle that saw some $300,000 of ships destroyed back in 2014. As I recall, that battle was completely unplanned, but this next battle is the latest culmination of tensions between two of the game's large factions. The expectation is for a battle today that could result in $1,000,000 of ships being destroyed. Of course that value is only a guess and it is possible this engagement will be small and short, but it could also be one of the largest in the game's history.

For those of you who do not understand how in-game ships can be given a money value, it is possible within EVE Online trade ISK, a premium currency that can be used to pay for the game's subscription. This currency therefore has a real-world value when used to purchase in-game items. Thanks to this trading, it is possible for some dedicated players to effectively play the game for free, not counting the time investment necessary.

If you want to watch the battle, there are going to be a number of streams going on for it, and you can find a short list of Twitch channels in this Reddit post: $1,000,000 Fight information thread. If you do tune in to watch, it may be worth remembering the servers for EVE Online will slow down in-game time to deal with high server load.
