Monitor fail

My LG W2442PA monitor failed this AM.

4 out of 5 capactors bulging. Same as a few youtube videos.

Australia, being a small buyer base, I was not going to spend a week and lots of miles to get new capacitors.

 

I ordered an AOCG2460PF Gaming monitor. Reviews are good for gaming. About a hundred dollars more than in the US.

 

First, my water pump and then my monitor. What next?

Maybe.

First I would have to unsolder them and get a big magnifying glass to read them. And Australia is a small tech client base, so maybe not.

I decided to go new. This new monitor is supposed to be up to 144hz. So far it is 1920 X 1080 at 60hz. Probably needs a driver (on the disc) to go higher than 60hz.

Looks like you have an Nvidia vga card and the monitor supports freesync from all the reviews Ive seen on this monitor which are AMD vga cards .Also I think you need to be using a display port

for the higher frequency. Make sure you also have the DP 1.2 selected in the menu  settings. Hope this helps.

I've got the AOC G2460PQU monitor and have had it for about six months now.  This model number doesn't support Freesync or GSync but it does run at 144hz flawlessly using a pair of nVidia GTX670s in SLi.

 

It didn't self set to 144hz when I installed the latest nVidia drivers, but it was an easy change in the nVidia control panel.  These are decent monitors considering the price point and it's hard to go back to 60hz after playing BF4 at 144hz.

 

The main (and only gripe) I have about the PQU version is picture quality and color washout at 144hz.  You can definitely tell when you switch to 144hz.  You can gain some back by adjusting the monitor settings though.

 

These monitors have extremely high brightness levels so you'll want to pull that down a bit, but contrast remains excellent right up to about the 50% setting in the monitor control settings.  Color accuracy is pretty good for a TN monitor if you're running at 60hz, but as I mentioned once you set it to 144hz all bets are off.

 

For a gaming monitor at a decent price point the AOC G2460 series are hard to beat.
