Guest_Jim_* Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Gaming headsets are a fairly common piece of equipment for many gamers today, as they can provide clear sound and a microphone to communicate with your allies, and taunt your enemies. For long gaming sessions though, the headset needs to be comfortable, and finding a headset that is not too expensive but you can wear for hours can be difficult. Cougar believes it has an answer for you with its Phontum headset. The Phontum has a few features that make it stand out from other headsets, with perhaps the most apparent being its two earpad options. Instead of being forced to use the same earpads wherever you are, the Phontum comes with two pairs that can be swapped out. The thicker gaming/home use pair provide better comfort and sound quality, while the on-the-go earpads are thinner and lighter, making them better for travelling and outdoor use. Both share the same soft protein surface. Inside the headset are large 53 mm drivers, larger than those in many other headsets, and a dual chamber structure. This structure will help differentiate the bass, midrange, and treble frequencies. The diaphragms of the drivers are made of graphene, reducing distortion. The Phontum will be available by the end of the month with a US MSRP of $54.99.
