Guest_Jim_* Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 For some of us, this news has been a long time coming, but at last AMD has launched its RX Vega GPUs, targeting gamers instead of the professional market the Vega Frontier Edition aims for. There are three RX Vegas being offered: the RX Vega56; RX Vega64; and RX Vega64 Liquid Cooled Edition. They will be available on August 14 with the RX Vega56 having a suggested price of $399 while the air-cooled RX Vega64 will have a price of $499. For a limited time these GPUs will come with Prey and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, but if you want even more there are also the Radeon Packs. These packs include discounts on select Ryzen 7 and motherboard combos ($100 off) and on a 34 in Ultra WQHD curved Samsung monitor with Freesync ($200 off). The RX Vega GPUs have several new features, including 8 GB of HBM2, the High Bandwidth Cache Controller, a new geometry engine for significantly greater throughput-per-clock, an improved pixel engine, and Rapid Packed Math for improved compute performance. In fact RX Vega can reach up to 13.7 TFLOPs of peak compute performance. Hopefully we will not have to wait long before seeing reviews for RX Vega. Wolfrider Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 (edited) ? ? What do miners have to do with Vega pricing? The reason they give 400 dollar value in the pack for a 100 more is so more gamers would be interested. The basic price of the card is higher than it would have been if polaris hadn't doubled in price. And because availability will be bad, some people will buy them up to resell them, driveing prices even higher. ? ?I don't need another monitor, cpu motherbord nor games. I just want the cheapest card so I can max out ultrawide 1080p with freesync. Right now nvidia is cheaper in that regard (hell I can get a 1080ti for 700eur) ? ?PS can someone do something about pale moon support for the site? This card is priced where it is because it's a behemoth of a die with expensive memory. Polaris doubled in market price, but not in MSRP. Until miners get their hands on them (and Ethereum digs out of the dirt) I don't think you have to worry about miners affecting the prices. Wolfrider Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 As long as I get to buy one and have it arrive without absurd delays due to availability I'll be happy
