CheeseMan42 Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Computex 2017 is currently underway in Taiwan, and NVIDIA and its partners are showing off more than 40 new products. Perhaps the stars of the show are two laptop focused innovations, Max-Q, "an innovative design approach that enables gaming laptops to be 3x thinner with 3x more performance than previous generations," and WhisperMode, "for quieter laptops." The end result is an increase in gaming performance up to 70% relative to current offerings, all packed into a laptop the size of a MacBook Air. At the heart of Max-Q is an optimized Pascal architecture to provide increased efficiency with improved thermal solutions to offer quieter operation. WhisperMode "intelligently paces the game’s frame rate while simultaneously configuring the graphics settings for optimal power efficiency," which "reduces the overall acoustic level for gaming laptops." Max-Q laptops have an expected availability of June 27 with offerings from ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, and many other NVIDIA partners.
