It uses Cherry MX switches with included LED lighting, but the K68 is set apart with the inclusion of a per-key silicone rubber shield. This makes the keyboard dust and water resistant to an IP32 rating. The switches have per-key dynamic backlighting and dedicated multimedia controls allow "for simple customization and on-the-fly audio adjustment." Corsair Utility Engine software provides a number of included lighting profiles, with the ability to download others, and also allows users to customize macro keys and remap any key as desired.
