Midrange Build -- I guess.

My nephew called me and is very frustrated with his current situation.  He has some old office box from like ten years ago with a wifi connection.  He cant get it to run well for him and is breaking up his bedroom out of frustration.   Since he is now able to collect disability, he finally has a few bucks comming in every month.   He was born with only one kidney that was fuctioning at some rediculously low level.  He got a transplant as a boy but has never been able to lead a normal life.  Now finally at age 26 he has started collecting disability.   He does like video gaming and has some Xbox version, but its not the latest one.

Anyway, I agreed to help him out and he will donate what he can afford and my wife and I will donate the rest.  He will be shocked at the capabilities of his new system.

This is what I have worked up for him at a cost of just under $1500 for the box only, as he has peripherals and I have extras of most everything he could need in that area anyway.

Ok, so I like everything here, but I am open to suggestions.  For instance, I like MSI and this board seems to have everything I want at $149 on Amazon.  Ima Prime Member.  If I can get the same feature set in another board manufacturer for around the same pricing, I would be willing to have a look.

Ram it seems to me, at least in my opinion, is what you like.  I am not for splitting hairs in ram performance one brand over another but if someone can point out to me a better value at similar performance ratings, I would be open to that.

Suggestions or just opinions is ok with me.

No AMD please, I haven't owned an AMD chip since the K8 Venice and have never owned an AMD video card.

That motherboard is pretty sweet, it has a built-in water cooling setup, so you just buy the watercooler and can easily hook it up. That video card should last him a year with ULTRA settings games. Most of these dev's use previous game engines and hardly modify anything. Like the Call of duty series. That processor isn't bad but i'd get the i7 7700K, some games do use more cores, not sure which games he plays. I would get him a M.2 hard drive instead of SATA, if your motherboard supports it then get it, it's really fast compared to SATA hard drives. I left you a pic below regarding the hard drive.

@Dynamic,

Wow, Hi, yeah, Well thanks for the opinion on the M.2, but I am footing the bill on this one.   If after he has this system for awhile and wants to make that kind of step up in performance, he can pay for it.

I see the pricing has come down on the M.2 Memory, but not enough yet for me on my own personal level.   Thanks, I enjoyed doing a little web cruise on M.2 Memory.  I only got him this level mobo because he can add another 1070 on the price drop when the new models arrive if he chose to.  Lots of options to choose from, definitely.
