As part of ongoing efforts to ease privacy concerns, Microsoft "is updating its privacy statement and publishing information about the data it collects as part of Windows 10." The Creators Update will allow users to switch between basic and full levels of collection. The company added that "we have published a complete list of the diagnostic data collected at the Basic level. We are also providing a detailed summary of the data we collect from users at both Basic and Full levels of diagnostics." Microsoft is continuing to update what it deems necessary to collect at the basic level.

Wouldn't it me nice if MS would just publish a laymen's guide and description explaining what they collect at basic and full collection levels and why that collection is important or necessary?  Apparently not.  Instead their TechNet article launches into data extensions, data fields, registry entries and a host of other crap that most non-techies can't even grasp.

While I applaud the MS effort in "explaining" for the tech crowd, once again they have failed the every day joe/jane user.

To be honest,I know that Google, Microsoft, and others collect data no matter what you do. I am not talking about actually going in and looking at your files like address books, registry, etc, I am talking about all of our buying choices like perusing Amazon/eBay, our news browsing choices, Drudge, Fox, Breitbart and other every day things we do on our computers. If I look at any site for, lets say, disk brake pads, for the next month I will have push advertising to look at the same product again. My search engine is Bing because it seems ti be very less intrusive.

So, in summary, I do not think that we, as users, have any choice about what is being Hoovered up from our computers. I have significant road blocks to stop drastic intrusion but you can not stop it all.

Sad state of affairs.............

Everybody trying to push stuff on people to buy or want you to donate, hell you cant even go in a store around here without tables and chairs setup at the entrance and exit collecting money for something. While inside there are little booths trying to get to try a sample of this or that, this morning some guy on a mega speaker in sams I was shaking my head... Everybody trying to sell you some shit...
