RANT: Facebook..........

So Traci (my better half) is a pretty avid FB user........... probably too avid if I say so myself.  Yesterday her account was suspended because she posted two of my air pellet rifles for sale in a closed group called NWA Yard Sales.

So apparently FB is suspending users who post anything related to the selling of pellet guns, bb guns, airsoft guns etc.  Since I was uneducated in the matter I did a little research this morning and apparently FB updated those policies back in early 2016.

I know that FB is an optional / voluntary social platform, but this has gotten ridiculous IMHO.  People can post up pictures of naked women claiming it is art, people can live stream sexual assaults using the FB Live feature, but they suspend a 50 year old grandma's account for posting up pellet rifles for sale in a closed local yard sale group.

What is this world coming to?

Our local sale group has it in their title that no guns of any kind allowed. They also got after a guy who was selling collectible knives. I understand that it seems to be getting ridiculous, but I also know that people themselves have become more ridiculous as well....

Didn't you know that anything that looks like a firearm can hurt people's feelings? You basically just violated their safe space. :|

What kind of air rifles are they? I got one last year after not owning one since I was in high school. It's nothing fancy ($130 Stoeger X20s springer) but it's pretty impressive compared to the bb/pellet guns from when I was a kid. Went with the .22 version for pest control as well as target shooting at home.

They were both Winchester branded (licensed by Daisy).  They were "one offs" made specifically for me when we were bringing a new supplier on board.  I used to be the Quality Director for Daisy Outdoor.

1000FPS / .177 caliber.

Beautiful pellet rifles.  Both will probably be collectors items one day since they were the only ones with those particular designed stocks.  Fortunately we got them sold before FB slapped the temp suspension on the Mrs.

Next thing you know they won't let you sell staple guns in the FB market because they include the word gun in the title   :)

Wow, i've just sold my .22 RWS 350 magnum to my co-worker but initially was planning on posting it on a local yard sale group, glad i didn't. I use FB purely for reading news (science, computers etc, not "who our dearest joke of a president offended today"), it would suck getting banned for something as minor as this. Especially that i would require state issued ID and for the buyer to be 21 or older...

I do believe the way around this is to post a picture of something with the gun in the background. When you post the title be like "For sale - Two "baseballs". I see this on our Facebook groups all the time. One of them was like "Almost brand new 30-06 Winchester "Flower Pot"."

I'm about done with facebook at this point. Much like everything else it has gotten to the point where every fake news story is touted as truth. Every person has an agenda and it really is just become plain old bullshit every day of the week. Its a place for snowflakes to flourish and create mountains out of mole hills.

Its a place/space where everyone becomes judgmental behind a keyboard and spouts their bullshit opinions.  I'm all for free speech but some people need to just STFU and go back to hiding in their protected little worlds.  I really do not have time for it any longer. I will find a new way to keep in touch with those who matter in my life.

It's a sad state when someone gets their feeling hurt because of a picture of a gun! That used to be the tool we needed to effectively provide for our families. Imagine if a snowflake had to kill an animal to survive this harsh cruel unforgiving world.......

I went through and weeded out a lot of people from mine the last 2 years. I don't mind educated and insightful debates on things, but there are some people that just can't shake that 3rd grade "I know you are but what am I?" argument style. I also weeded out the poor "woe is me" and "every day is worse than the last" people. While I understand that everyone has a bad day, those people just can't function in life anymore.

Beyond that, I also know that it's my duty to scroll past and ignore things that don't interest me or concern me. It's part of the REALITY of social media. So many things make me do the eye roll, but I also know that commenting just invites stupidity, so I go right past it.

You can't make everything Idiot Proof, because they'll just make a better idiot.

I only use Facebook to keep up to date with my 2 daughters who live in different parts of Canada, see the grand kids latest pics etc., as far as every other peoples opinions on just about everything else I just scroll past them, no time for some of their crap.
