Updating Hardware With Windows 10

I want to update my hardware (Processor, Motherboard & Ram) and from what I've read I'll have to purchase a new Windows 10 licence.

 

Any sneaky ways around this?

From what I've read, I was under the assumption you could contact Microsoft, and they could help you activate on new hardware. Isn't there also a way to get your win10 CD Key now?

Enter your Windows 7/8/8.1 key. If it complains, call MS. Your old hardware died is all they need to hear.

You can contact their customer care and get it done. Just list the reason.

Nothing new just confirming what everyone has already said.  I actually did this 2 weeks ago with an older system where I had a Windows 7 Pro license and the computer it was on was upgraded to Windows 10.  I ended up switching the motherboard and Windows wouldn't activate anymore.  I contacted them and they couldn't get it activated either so the MS Support guy actually gave me a legit Windows 10 Pro CD key... So now I have a brand new Windows 10 Pro key that's installed on that machine and he confirmed my old Windows 7 Pro key should work on another system.
