Freddy55 Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I need a help to decide which motherboard to choose for building a gaming PC. These are choices that I have narrowed down to GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD5H LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel ASUS Z97-E LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel I have a slight inclination towards Asus as my friends are using Asus motherboard. I need your suggestions.
xenkw0n Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 If it's for the same price the Gigabyte board has more ports across the board. They both have an m.2 slot which is nice for future-proofing newer SSD's. All around the Gigabyte board is a more feature-filled motherboard. Will also be better for overclocking. I would assume it's probably more expensive than the ASUS. They are not in the same class, the ASUS is more of a budget Z97 board and that Gigabyte model is higher-end. Freddy55 Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Okay, but I read a lot of reviews online favouring a motherboard by Asus. Yes, Gigabyte is expensive. I need to know which will be more reliable.
xenkw0n Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 The Gigabyte board has more expensive parts and would physically be more reliable but that also comes down to the motherboard BIOS and the devices/drivers that are used. Both Gigabyte and ASUS have been making great motherboards for years so I don't think you can go wrong either way. Just get whatever suits your needs. If you need/want the extra features of the Gigabyte board then go for that but if price is more of a difference and you won't use the extra features then there's nothing wrong with the ASUS board.
