Microsoft Aware of Issue with Latest Cumulative Update for Windows 10

Microsoft released KB3194496 to members of the Windows Insiders program last week. This fix is a Cumulative Update for Windows 10, and it appears that it has caused a significant issue for a "subset of users." These users have found themselves stuck in an install loop since the upgrade with no easy way out. The issue was apparently reported by some users before it was made publicly available, but Microsoft did not heed those warnings. The company has now acknowledged the problem and stated that it is working on a "clean-up script that will fix the underlying issue preventing the install."

I feel bad for all the people that upgraded for free to windows 10, welcome to Microsofts Alpha test.  Now that you have to pay for it, it has moved to beta testing.     I give a new OS at least 3 years before I even consider moving to it.    Windows 8 was just rounding the 3 year mark when windows 10 came out.   Windows 10 just started its 2nd year so maybe in a few years when I build a new computer ill be forced to move to it.

Most people didn't have any problems - two of my other systems made the update on the first try. Just my main system had the issue, and the patch worked for me. I think what bothers people is that MS knew about it from the feedback from people in the Insider program, and still released it.

I'm having trouble with a message on shutdown titled- DDE Server Window:explorer.exe-Application error. Stating: The instruction at 0x00000XXXX referenced memory at 0x0000XXX The memory could not be written. Then, Click on OK to terminate the program. It happens on every shutdown or restart. I got it to stop by turning off the taskbar/Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode. This is a temporary fix, and it is irritating to always have the task bar at the bottom of the screen. Anybody have a permanent solution for this? Thanks

I have had a few bumps with Win10 - and usually I Google search with my symptoms / error codes and figure out the fix. Sometimes the fix comes with the next update. You will want to include in your search, your Windows version / release.
