potatochobit Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 since usb 2.0 puts out .5 A and usb 3.0 puts out .9 A but do you need a 3.0 cable to take advantage of the higher usb 3.0 power output? or do you just need a 3.0 cable for the faster data transfers? SpikeSoprano Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 A usb 2 cable should have the same power pins as a usb3 cable so in theory it should work for faster charging.

Just did a quick google and it's really up to the device that's being charged, some will accept a faster charge while others limit the charge it will take, so best bet is try in both ports and see if there's a difference, good thing is it won't harm the device !
