MSI Gaming X vs EVGA ACX 3.0 SC

Hi Guys,

I have now pre-ordered two cards from Amazon, the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X and the EVGA GTX 1070 ACX 3.0 SC. I still have the option to cancel either of them. So which do you guys recommend as the better card in terms of quality, customer service?

Performance wise it does not matter to me that much because the difference isn't that significant and even if it is I can easily get it or surpass it by overclocking.

Cooling will be similar, performance will be similar, power usage will be similar, overclocking will be similar, looks will be different, Zero load cooling noise may be different, Looks, warranty and price are your choices really. I like both.

What about the Gigabyte G1 1070? thats the card I ended up going with. It was cheaper and faster those either of those. I believe (confirmed) the EVGA ACX 3.0 using the reference PCB which doesn't look very appealing for higher voltage control. Even though they all max out at around 2.1ghz~ the MSI and Gigabyte look better based on the PCB alone.

I picked up the Gigabyte because, A) it was in stock, B) it was cheaper and C) because the waterblock was the same price as the reference version of the cards. I rather have gotten the Asus Strix but its never in stock....

Well, I will be getting them from Amazon. And based on what people are saying, customer service of EVGA is better than any other company. As for price, the difference is not that significant. The only reason, I think I might consider the EVGA over MSI with total confidence is that, the EVGA one will arrive around a week earlier than the MSI and, (this is a concern) it may not fit in my HAF X or hardly fit because it is so wide it might touch the fan on the side panel.

I did consider it but from more than one user, they say it feels like it was cheaply built due to the excessive use of plastic. But the major reason for me to dump it was it was too long and not available even if I wanted one.

I am much more inclined towards the EVGA card but seeing how the MSI has the additional 6 - pin power connector makes me feel that I can overclock it further than EVGA. That is, if I need overclocking to improve its performance which I probably wouldn't since I'll be gaming on a 32" 1080P monitor. Maybe when I get a 2K or 4K display I would need to overclock it. With that being said, I believe I am not mistaken in assuming that the reference design of the EVGA doesn't affect overclocking or power delivery that much since the founders edition already has a good amount of headroom for overclocking to begin with.

I will probably wait one more day to see which one ships before the other, and the one that does will stay :D

Yeah i've heard the Gigabyte feels cheap, than others say its hefty. I'm putting a waterblock on it so I don't care about the cooler, only the PCB and max sustained OC. The EVGA uses the reference PCB (founders edition), which isn't bad since it seems most people hit the same overclock with the custom versions. I would say EVGA does in fact have the best customer services i've ever dealt with.

Well, the answer is clear. EVGA it is. It should arrive later today. I am also considering writing a user experience review of it on my blog to tell everyone how it performs on my sandy bridge system.
