But what really hit home for me was the "can you upgrade my 10 year old PC?" I can't even count how many times I was in a situation like that. AkakmanH Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 I can really, really emphathize, especially with the computer owners belief that six months after I fixed the problem, they can call me up, tell me their computer is broken again and it is all my fault for fixing it the first time. It must have been something I did. I stopped updating friends computers because of this. I especially liked the "wipe it all" comments. Users simply do not know what that means. I make it a point to make sure they understand just what is going to happen. AS for upgrading the 10-year-old computer to make it faster..........We all know what that means. I tell the user what it will cost. They usually just buy another PC or let me buy all new parts and put then into existing cabinet.
