catkicker Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I recently built my twins there first gaming computers and I divied up my 2 Samsung monitors between them. So now I'm wondering through the maze of monitors, UGH! It used be be pretty simple. We just looked at response time and hookups. It's a complicate world now. with 4k, 2k, Gsync, WQHD, and on and on.I'm running a i7 with a GTX690 16gigs of mem. and a Samsung 950 pro M.2 SSDI don't game like I used to but I still like to have upper tier hardware. looking for 27" or so monitor with plenty of options and a view that will turn heads.Price is always a concern, I buy many of my components from the FS forums to save money. Would like to stay around $400.00 plus or minus a bit. It does not have to be brand new.Any suggestions?
bp9801 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Is there any particular resolution you're looking for or just something in the 27" and $400 range?
catkicker Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Is there any particular resolution you're looking for or just something in the 27" and $400 range? High resolution and a monitor that could benefit from the GTX690
bp9801 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 If you don't mind going UltraWide, the LG 29UM67 is worth a look. The Dell SE2716H isn't UltraWide, but still good looking.
AkakmanH Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I am very fortunate to live in the Dallas Texas area because I have several Fry's where I can go to look at monitors. If you see the LG side by side with the Dell, the LG is much brighter and the blacks are deeper. You can find one on Amazon for about $320. I have been a LG fan for quite a while not. The only other monitors that I get for clients are BenQ (pricey). http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-29UM67-29-Inch-LED-lit/dp/B00VBNQJKU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453126888&sr=8-1&keywords=LG+29UM67
ccokeman Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Can't say anything bad about LG since my 30 inch IPS panel has been good for 7 years now.

IVIYTH0S Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Are you opposed to the Korean offerings? I feel like at that price point they'd give you the best value at your budget. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Perfect-Pixel-CROSSOVER-2795-QHD-AHIPS-LED-27-2560X1440-LG-IPS-Monitor-Matte-/141740633783?hash=item2100666eb7:g:RY0AAOSw~gRVxtXn That was just the first result I got but you can see what I mean
bp9801 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Monoprice also has a nice selection, like a 27" 2560x1440 for under $400 or a 28" 4K screen for under $400, too. The first one is an IPS panel, the second is just TN.
IVIYTH0S Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) Monoprice also has a nice selection, like a 27" 2560x1440 for under $400 or a 28" 4K screen for under $400, too. The first one is an IPS panel, the second is just TN. I'd probably rather have an IPS x1440 over a 4K TN, and this is coming from a x1600 TN user. I never have used an IPS and I desperately want one. I'd say 2560x1440-2560x1600 is the best place in the market, you won't murder your frames but it still looks glorious over x1080 and x1200 Edited January 19, 2016 by IVIYTH0S
Guest onions Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 If you want higher resolution that 1920x1080, I'd recommend checking out this monitor. I just bought one and it is amazing. It takes DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort, runs at 2560x1440, has a matte screen, has a build in KVM, and the bezels are extremely thin which is nice for a multi-monitor setup. http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-U2515H-25-Inch-LED-Lit/dp/B00SPWPF1O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1453197811&sr=8-3&keywords=dell+u2715h
xPETEZx Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Cant recommend the Dell U2715H enough Only just got it, but its amazing! 2560x1440 res, IPS panel. Ultra thin bezel and plenty of hookups. On a topic tangent, my next purchase is hopefully a M.2 Samsung 950 Pro. How are they? Worth the cash over regular SSD? (Got 2x regular 256GB SSD atm)
