Cespenar Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I was looking at somebodies CPU-Z (44x100 = 4399.92) Decided to check mine: Bus Speed = 99.9 Multiplier jumps from 42 to 43 to 44 ( irregulary but constant) Is this a normal thing for other users? Or is it a sign of an imperfect motherboard? (Not that it worries me. Just want to know)
IVIYTH0S Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Try running a stress tester, it should stabilize out. At idle it'll lower itself to a lower multiplier to use less power.
bp9801 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 If you have power saving features on, it's normal.

Boinker Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 In windows and in some bios settings you can tell the processor to gear down when loads are not there. I have my system set for low power usage in the bios and power saving in the OS. this way the thing idles low and slow on my 2011 - 3930k.(1200 MHz at 0.830 volts = 23 watts package load) Under load it pops up to 4500mah at around 210 watts. Best of both worlds. To make it where it does not or very seldomly lowers its idle speed set up max performance in bios and OS. that should get you the results you want. Waco Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I don't know why it reads 3 GHz high but it makes me laugh.
Cespenar Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) Just realised I should have said CPU-Z reading was at idle with nothing running. Sorry bout that. But I get it. It doesn't matter. Do you have snow in New mexico, Waco? Maybe you need to make use of it if you do. Edited October 10, 2015 by Cespenar
