Paint question

So anyway, I am working on a piece of custom furniture that I am making out of wood and threaded iron pipe (lowes). However I wanted to paint the pipe black (not the wood) and I used VHT epoxy paint, I did prep it very well with Xylene to get all of the grease off. The paint went on well and it's been 24 hours, however it does seems scratch kinda easy. 

 

Would it be possible to lightly sand and use rustoleum matte black enamel? Reason I used VHT was I had some left over from a different project, but rusoleum has always been very durable. I am curious if anyone has any better options?

Grab a small heater to help the paint cure. Or if you can put it in the sunlight outside.

Appliance epoxy is the most durable I've found. You can scuff for a matte finish with a brillo pad once it's cured.

Ah I was thinking of doing this, well they are currently in my hot garage, but when I get home I move them outside in the 100F heat until sunset.

I can actually attest to this...he's painted some things with appliance epoxy that I never expected to hold up -- and most surprisingly are my track wheels. Those things see rocks and all kinds of road debris and track debris and not a single chip down to the ugly silvery base.
