Hawker357 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) I am thinking about trying to use my new r9 270x as my main card, along side an old 210 as a dedicated physx engine. im not quite sure if this would work because of the difference in the cards, clock speeds, age and memory types. can anybody help me with this as i really want to utilise physx but i have a full amd system (motherboard, cpu and main gpu) motherboard - ASUS f2a85-V pro CPU - A8 6600k APU @ 4.2 GPU - ASUS R9 270x 2GB PSU - ANTEC TRUEPOWER CLASSIC TP-650C (650W) old GPU - Gigabyte G210 1GB Edited July 21, 2015 by Hawker357
IVIYTH0S Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 The geforce 210 is probably one of the weakest cards on the planet and wouldn't handle any amount of physx I'm afraid
slick2500 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 This would work perfect for PhsyX I am sure http://www.ebay.com/itm/BFG-Technologies-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-260-BFGEGTX260MC896OCBE-896-MB-GDDR3-/221832340334?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33a63ce36e
cchalogamer Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) Unless something's changed in the last few revisions of Nvidia's drivers PhysX is disabled when running with an AMD card in the system. For example 290X + 750Ti = PhysX disabled for the 750 Ti. Worked the same way with two GTX 770s in SLI and an older AMD card in the system for running extra monitors. Again there's a chance they removed this block, but knowing Nvidia's record I doubt it. As a side note the 210 would have a hard time doing PhysX if it even supports the technology (nvidia only shows the 240 or higher as supporting it). They have been doing it since nVidia first started blocking it.

slick2500 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 For $27.50 it's not going to make or break you.
IVIYTH0S Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Until the short list of physx games runs out and the investment becomes worthless, I'd say it's be better to just save some more and get a slightly stronger nvidia card and sell the 270X, though I'd hardly say physx is worth doing all ... Maybe I'm bitter for finally having an nvidia card and no physx games to play though
