main R9 270x with dedicated physx g force 210

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about trying to use my new r9 270x as my main card, along side an old 210 as a dedicated physx engine.

im not quite sure if this would work because of the difference in the cards, clock speeds, age and memory types.

can anybody help me with this as i really want to utilise physx but i have a full amd system (motherboard, cpu and main gpu)

motherboard - ASUS f2a85-V pro

CPU - A8 6600k APU @ 4.2

GPU - ASUS R9 270x 2GB

PSU - ANTEC TRUEPOWER CLASSIC TP-650C (650W)

old GPU - Gigabyte G210 1GB

Unless something's changed in the last few revisions of Nvidia's drivers PhysX is disabled when running with an AMD card in the system.  For example 290X + 750Ti = PhysX disabled for the 750 Ti.  Worked the same way with two GTX 770s in SLI and an older AMD card in the system for running extra monitors.

Again there's a chance they removed this block, but knowing Nvidia's record I doubt it. As a side note the 210 would have a hard time doing PhysX if it even supports the technology (nvidia only shows the 240 or higher as supporting it).

People always find a way to get around this. They have been doing it since nVidia first started blocking it.

QFT, i used to run an 8800GT alongside my 4870x2...killed my PSU in the process

But is it really worth spending money on a card for, I would say no

Until the short list of physx games runs out and the investment becomes worthless, I'd say it's be better to just save some more and get a slightly stronger nvidia card and sell the 270X, though I'd hardly say physx is worth doing all ... Maybe I'm bitter for finally having an nvidia card and no physx games to play though
