bp9801 Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Twelve years ago, Xfire released its Xfire Client to the PC gaming world, bringing a new level of communication to gamers. No longer did friends and clans have to be in the same game or same voice chat server to communicate with each other; everything could be done in Xfire's messaging program. Xfire was more than just for communication, as it also tracked your games, their playtime, and would tell you when one of your friends started playing a game. More and more features were added over time, with screenshots, videos, streams, and more all possible, with the Xfire Social Website bringing everyone together. Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and this Friday the Xfire Client and Social Website are being shut down. Any screenshots and videos you may still have on the website can be downloaded before Friday, so just fill in your Xfire username and begin the download (and mind the queue). Xfire plans to focus on its Xfire Tournment Platform, which lets gamers create, manage, and join tournaments of any size with ease. Whether you're an organizer or a participant, the Xfire Tournament Platform is for you. It's a sad time to see Xfire go away in the form we've known for years, but it looks like the future is bright for it and eSports. If you're still using Xfire, Raptr is a great alternative that does many of the things Xfire first perfected. Guest Guest Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Evolve is another alternative. One of their employees has built an xfire importer to save your game time: https://xfire.evolvehq.com/xfire
gebraset Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I used to use this server so much back in the day. It's crazy to see that it is shutting down after so many years.

Guest Guest Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Well my friends, I've been using Xfire since 2005 mainly for game time but also communicating with friends. I will definitely miss that X icon, till the day I die I will never forget.
IVIYTH0S Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I remember using Xfire back when BF1942 was popular but sadly steam was so well implemented I just used that to talk to other gamers I often played with and now it dies...RIP!
