So far, I'm loving it. Big leap forward from Enemy Unknown/Within, yet it's similar enough to make you feel right at home. It really is like Firaxis took everything said about EU/EW and took it to 11. Looks great, new features are fun (concealment is awesome to spring traps of your own for a change), and the new classes seem like a nice advancement over the past ones. Plus the customization options are damn nice. You unlock more as you play and get your squad advanced, plus there should be some sweet mods to add a whole bunch more.

 

There's a character pool you can use to make custom squadmates from the start and then recruit them into your game. Be interesting to see what everyone makes and shares.

First DLC hits next Thursday, as Anarchy's Children arrives just in time for St. Paddy's Day. More than 100 new customizations for your soldiers are included, from the typical to the insane. It'll set you back just $4.99, but if you own the Reinforcement Pack (season pass), you'll have it as soon as it launches.

The second DLC, Alien Hunters, arrives next Thursday, May 12. It has a new story-mission, new weapons and armor, an update to the Avenger's Armory, and three new Ruler aliens. These Rulers are beefed up versions of three alien species found in the game, but each one does not act like the rest of their group. They think differently and behave in an unusual manner, and if they escape they'll come back after you on a different mission. Killing each one unlocks a new armor, like the Icarus Suit that grants flight. Seems like a pretty sweet deal, so pick it up for $9.99 next week or just let it download if you have the season pass.
