jdm_freek Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) so i found a asus gtx 980 for $400 on cl but i am Leary as the price is so cheap any idea's on asus warranty policies i.e. void if heatsink has been removed etc. seller says i can test but wants to me at a public price and im not to keen on lugging my rig around town. El_Capitan Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 ASUS warranty is serial based, so just make sure the serial number is intact on the card. You don't need an invoice or a receipt. Sometimes there's stickers on the heatsink screws that say "Warranty void if broken" or something to that effect, but I've never had issues with RMA graphics cards, and I always remove the heatsink to replace the original TIM. I did say around about same performance at 1080p I didn't say that it was more powerful certain games like Battlefield 3 on Ultra settings 1080p I average about 120fps (have not played bf4 yet) which is on par with a GTX 970. and of course I know there will be some games that don't support SLI and of course the enormous power draw difference but for $120 it wasn't a bad buy.
