Assassin X Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) I know this is an odd question but I have the Razer Blackwidow Chroma and it has the M1-M5 keys on the left side. Is there anyway to remove them (without breaking them off). I have no use for them and I keep placing my pinky on them instead of on the left shift like I normally do when I game. Its messing me up badly in general to in everything I do. Most keyboard you can pop the buttons off. Thanks.BTW this is my keyboard:http://www.amazon.com/Razer-BlackWidow-Chroma-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B00MTWV0II/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1429383067&sr=8-1&keywords=razer+blackwidow+chroma Edited April 18, 2015 by Assassin X
Locutus Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) From their website: How do I remove the key caps from my Razer BlackWidow Chroma? Razer does not recommend removing keycaps from the Razer BlackWidow Chroma. Several caps have springs that are very difficult to replace once the cap has been removed. Excessive force can also damage the key itself. If you desire to clean under the key caps, Razer suggests holding the unit upside down and/or using compressed air from a can. So if you're feeling like you REALLY want them gone then you can try popping them off but it might be a bad idea. Maybe consider selling it and getting a different keyboard if it bothers you enough? My Tesoro doesn't have function keys to the left and honestly it would be annoying if it did lol. ETA: Just found a video guide to taking the key caps off. Also, it looks like it's the same process on the Chroma, so it shouldn't actually damage your keyboard to remove the key caps. bp9801 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Typically only the larger keys have the springs/clips on them, so Spacebar, Shift, Enter, and Backspace. Everything else can pop off with a key puller, like this. Can also make your own.
Assassin X Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Got them off easily now. Including the window key which I normally take off. Thankfully no springs or anything and they appear to snap right back on.
bp9801 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Yup, they're pretty easy to get back on. Removing the keys is the way to go for whenever you need to clean the keyboard. Plus you can always get new keycaps and customize the board however you like.
