Which card to replace my Gigabyte GV-R7870 OC 2GD?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm Giordino from Italy and sorry for my bad English.  :)

My Gigabyte GV-R7870 OC 2GD is gone and now I've to replace it.

What's the best choice for me ( without bottleneck) with my configuration showed below?

M4A78

AMD Phenom II X4 940BE

HDWD CAVIAR BLUE 640GB

6GB ram PC8500 1066-

IIYAMA ProLite B2712HDS

SSD 850 EVO

I generally play at FPS games or Flight simulator and my max resolution is full HD 1920x1080.

Thanks all.

The gtx 960 seems to be the card of choice for price and performance lately, they sell for around $200 us dollars.

Welcome to OCC and your English is fine.

GTX 960 are about 5% slower than a 7870 even with a huge overclock. By huge I mean about 40% over the reference cards.

If he wants an upgrade he will need a R9 290 or a GTX 970 or better. I think one could be found for 200 euros if you are willing to shop around :D

Good luck

Thank you for your suggestions.

I think that both of cards are great, but more expensive than 200 euros.

At the same price I found an used EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Superclocked ACX with 3 years of remaining warranty, is it a deal?

Thanks

Edit:

Wow I posted some useless stuff. I didn't know the euro was so close to the USD.

960 seems to max out your budget now. That 770 seems like a good deal now.
