tkrow21 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Hi guys, I'm thinking about purchasing a PS4, but I don't know how I would go about connecting it. With a PC, I would just plug it in and that would be everything, but ironically enough the consoles seem to be a bit trickier due to their limited amount of outputs. The reason I need help is because I have a Korean IPS monitor with 1440p resolution. The only connection is a Dual Link DVI port, and a standard DVI cable won't work (I have tried before). How can I connect my PS4 to this display, or do I have to go out and purchase a TV just for it to work? I'm not familiar with scaling/converter boxes either. Is there any way I can use my PC as one with the purchase od an additional card?
WhenKittensATK Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 There might be dvi to hdmi adapters/cables you can use.

IVIYTH0S Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 So single link doesn't work at all?? I know single link may not be able to push the native resolution but it should still have no problem supporting 1080P from the PS4
tkrow21 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Single Link wont work because the monitor doesn't have a built in scaler.
jimbo312 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 well looks like you might have to spend $40 to $50 to get it to work right.
IVIYTH0S Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Maybe some kind of active adapter?
xPETEZx Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I would think it will be very difficult to find any kind of adapter or scaler that supports a dual link DVI output. Your best best may be an AV amp? I know my Onkyo TX-NR515 can upscale to 4k. Just not sure it would support HDMI --> Dual Link DVI (if such a cable even exists)
