What's your PC plans for 2015?

Hello all, it's been a while since I've posted here. I wasn't very active in the PC world during 2014 but I'm back. I was sitting at work thinking about what I wanted to upgrade this year and figured I'd start a thread to see what everyones upgrade/build plans are for this year too. Inputs and suggestions are always welcome. Hope everyone is having a good year so far!

Definite upgrades for me, which may be real soon if I can't hold myself back.

  • GTX970 or 980, haven't decided yet.
  • New CPU cooling solution, the Corsair H100 is getting pretty old and I fear failure. I'll have to do some research to see what's doing well since I've been out for awhile, any input appreciated.

Tentantive upgrades.

  • Two new WD black 1Tb drives in a raid setup for my game storage. I've never built a raid setup at home but I'm familiar with their functions in my work environment. I'll have to do some more research.

Install that sweet Noctua CPU cooler OCC was nice enough to give away this year :D

Throw in my second 5770 and get x-fire working right, last time I tried it wouldn't boot :/

Upgrade from a 1680x1050 monitor and get a 1080p or better, I'm not interested in 4k with my system specs as of now but a 1600.p display would be pretty sweet.

I'd get a 240GB or 256GB SSD and then maybe two cheaper 2TB or larger drivers for the same or cheaper price than the Blacks. You shouldn't be blowing money on storage, unless you're going to really get something for your money ;)

As for your cooler, why get rid of a good thing? If you actually see signs of failure than RMA it, otherwise you're probably getting rid of a perfect good cooler :)

390x

+1 I was going to join the GTX970 or GTX980 club but I forgot that the new AMDs are coming out soonish. My 7970 has been doing pretty well with 2560x1600 to be honest but I wouldn't mind getting some options in order because I know it can't hold out forever at this resolution!

This year is hopefully going to be a quiet one for my PC.

Happy with my 4770K and 1475Mhz overclocked GTX980, more than enough for the games this year.

Going to try hold out for the next nm shrink. 28nm has been used for GPU's for too long. 16nm should bring some nice improvements.

Might be tempted at the new of the year for the new AMD R9 390x if it comes in at a reasonable price and is 40-50% faster than a stock 980.

Although I like NVIDIA's MLAA, Hairworks, Furworks, PCSS and PhysX... Maybe that insane rumoured 300 watt TDP for the R9 390X will keep me away.

I am really tired of hot cards - my overclocked 780Ti loaded at 80C at 100% fan in the summer, now my overclocked 1475MHz 980 loads at 64C at 72% fan in the same ambient temps haha

Already completed my PC plans for 2015!

Built a new main PC.

So far very pleased with it! Just minor issue with Killer NIC.

Spec:

i7-4790k

MSI Z97M Gaming

MSI GTX970

Corsair H75

Corsair HX750

Corsair Vengence 16GB

Corsair Neutron 256GB SSD

OCZ Vertex 240GB SSD

Silverstone TJ-08E case

Running all stock for now, but probably use the OC Genie when I need a bit of a boost.

At some point this year would like to replace monitors.

Currently got 3x Dell 20" 1600x1200 monitors. Works great in Surround.

Ideally want a couple of 27"s to replace these. Dell U2715s ideally!
