how long does a check disk 3tb

I had a Toshiba 3 terabyte external hard drivethat the plug stop working on it so I disassemble and used as an internal drive when does ask me to run check disk and that was 6 hours ago

Cpu intel 4670k @ 4.5ghz 1.295v

Corsair H80i

Evga Z87 Classified

2x4GB Crucial Ddr3 2133

3 x Msi gtx 660 ti sli

Evga 600w

OCZ 128ssd

WD 750g WD 3tbOS Win 7

it doesn't say a percentage it just says

Oh, you don't have it running in a command line kind of readout where it tells you what it's working on and how far it's along?

Yeah but usually to the far left it'll display the current percentage complete: (like in this picture)

no mine looks similar except its just scrolling downcounting up clusters corrected now it is at Eight hundred thousand and counting

You'd lose progress and potentially more data.

In cases like this it's almost always wise to make an image of the drive before attempting any other recovery IMO.
Tolerance is a sign of weakness.

Gotta agree with Waco, every time I've cancelled a disk check I've had nothing but problems, wait it out as long as it's doing something.
