So I thought to myself "Self - you need to setup six matching laptops you got for free - you've set one up exactly how you need it. Is there a way to simply image the hard drive and put that image on the other five machines? I'm sure there is - ask OCC!

Short and skinny. Got 6 older dell laptops for free - current work wants to use them. All have good XP codes on the bottom. Set one up with all the appropriate drivers and software. Any freeware to dupe the drive contents on other machines? I don't have the equipment to remove a drive and run it on another PC. The drive claims 3.93GB of space used so it seems I might be able to use a DVD to image the other 5 drives.

Dell D620 laptops if it matters.

Thanks guys!

I've had good luck with driveimage xml, and acronis. Never used, but heard good things about clonezilla. There are a few tools out there that use linux bootable distros too :woot:

As far as I know the laptop drives are just SATA, so all you would need are SATA power/data cables in a tower to do it that way...

Intel Xeon X5650 6-core processor @ 4 GHz

ASUS P6X58D-E motherboard

Gigabyte R9 280X Windforce graphics card

12GB Mushkin Black 2000 MHz RAM

Thermaltake Toughpower 750W Modular power supply

120GB Kingston HyperX SSD and 2TB Toshiba HDD

Custom Watercooling loop with XSPC Raystorm CPU block

30" HP monitor 2560x1600

Razer DeathAdder mouse

Ducky DK9008S mechanical keyboard with Cherry Red switches

5.1 Logitech X-530 speakers

Creative Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Alpha gaming headset

    They call me... General Help.

I've used a couple but have been most happy with Acronis/Diskwizard because of that space age compression its capable of
