So,according to rumours the 790 will be released in February/March.My query is when will the EVGA version be released.Again, when was the EVGA version released after the release of the 690?By the way, should I get a 2560x1600 monitor instead of a 1920x1080 one?My current choice is this:http://www.newegg.co...824236313.Maybe you could suggest me an affordable one.

Welcome to OCC :)

First of all, where are you located and what's your budget roughly for the monitor?

If you are buying a new GTX card, I would suggest a G-Sync powered monitor.

On a side note, why a GTX 790? A GTX 780 Ti is more than enough at this point in time. Plus you can always SLI if you got the cash :)

I'm guessing the GTX 790 is the 780 Ultra it vice versa . basically it's a 780 Ti with 6gb of ram and was rumored last month . well the ultra name was rumored back when the Ti was released but no information came out about . my bet it's a Ti with 6gn for ram.

This is the monitor: http://www.newegg.co...82E16824236313.

Thing is I want to futureproof my pc and really don't like 2560x1600 screens and multi-monitor setups.

The main brands (ie EVGA, ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte) usually have their cards released shortly after the card is launched by NVIDIA.

However, availability is the main issue as after release there may not be enough cards available to satisfy the demand.

If you don't like 2560x1600 screens or multi-monitors then simply don't buy them.

Also, why did you ask in the first post if you should get a 2560x1600 monitor if you don't like it ?

Plus, I don't see what is not to like about a higher res monitor (which a GTX780Ti or rumoured dual GK110 GTX790 would run well) besides the price or availability...

The rumored 790 would be overkill with a 1920x1080 monitor. I would go for a 2560x1440 or 1600 resolution monitor. If not running a resolution that high save your money and get a 780Ti and a nice 27 inch 1920x1080 monitor.
