Eduard Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Im not sure if I should post this here or in 'gaming' but I was hosting a 6 player (only two people playing, me and a friend) civ 5 game last night and it was maxing out my cpu usage with clipping which lead to periodic freezing. This didnt make the game unplayable but I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if anyone has a solution.I have a 2500k at 3.3 GHz. bp9801 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Civ V is just a CPU intensive game. However, with your processor everything should be fine. Any other tasks running that may have interfered?
Eduard Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 The only other things on in the background were firefox and steam open. Should I look at overclocking my cpu?
Stonerboy779 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Close your browser, you dont need it while gaming. Also this is overclockers club so a bit of overclocking never goes astray.
d6bmg Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 If you have descent cooling, then a little bit of overclocking (i.e. 3.8-4GHz) won't hurt a bit.
Eduard Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Yeah fairo, I'll look into it. Any particular guides that someone can point me in the direction of? I have already looked at the pinned one in the overclocking section.
d6bmg Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 ^^ http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=188454 - THis guide would be pretty much helpful for anyone who tries to overclock their processor for the first time. Good luck!
d6bmg Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 (edited) Update: I have found something more specific. This guide is specifically for 2500K/2600K: http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=181398&do=findComment&comment=1880662 Edited April 15, 2013 by d6bmg
