EuroFight Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Hi all, I have a wireless PCI adapter in one of the computers in my house, and recently it has started playing up. Sometimes the ping is normal (1<ms) whereas sometimes it fails to respond at all. This makes hosting servers impossible on this system, which is really annoying. Attached is the screenshot of me pinging the computer from another computer on the network. Does anyone know any solutions to this problem? Cheers - Euro
dr_bowtie Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 what are your wireless settings in the router?
EuroFight Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Hi dr_bowtie, thank you for your reply Any settings in particular? I'll give you some general details anyway: - Huawei HG533 - WPA/WPA2 PSK Security (TKIP+AES) - Wireless b/g/n - Channel 7 - 20dB Transmit Power - 11N Band Width 20/40MHz I don't think the N band settings would affect the wireless card, as it only supports band G Hope this helps and thank you for your reply, - Euro
dr_bowtie Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 if you dont have any N clients change the Channel width to 20 only.... Android devices prefer 20 channel width.... I set it to Auto and weird things happen Thats the only thing I see that jumps out.... for some reason even if you set a a mixed mode of b,g,n and set the channel width to 20/40 (Auto) the g adapters cant function correctly
