GET ONE... :woot:

I DID!

Was free earlier on today so I went ahead and got one. Haven't been using it for that long so can't really say much about the differences as of yet.

Hello

I also have a 955 BE and I have a MSI 7970 the standard 3GB 925Hz (Over Clocked to 1125Hz). My FPS on Far Cry 3 were much higher than the Tom's Hardware specs. On ultra I am averaging 70+ FPS. I only have water on low and disabled Depth of Field. I see above 110+ fps very often as well (I run a 120hz monitor so getting 60+ fps is a must)

I do notice when at cities that my FPS drops to 38-50 ish. 70 to 40 is a huge drop.

Very curious how much better you find the new CPU! Been floating here a while, just made an account.

Peace

In lieu of Freddie not being finished with his testing. I would like to share some findings and dispell a few myths about the FX-83XX

I have tested/benched/and graphed some 26 games and benchmarks and have found significant increases in gaming over the 1100T and the FX-8150

Another assertion I hear constantly is that the FX-8350/20 will bottleneck a high end card such as the GTX 680 or the HD 7970. This is not only an unfounded and false statement of fact, but the 8350/20 readily handles multiple high end GPU's :

This was running 3 x 7970's right before I added the 4th. ( notice every other CPU on the list)

I'm # 21, and #29 for that matter

This contest is run at a not completely GPU bound Resolution of 1680 x 1050 mind you.

Here is CPU and GPU usage running 4 x 7970's: (Heaven 3.0 run)

You will notice about 28% CPU usage and 100% GPU usage.

If you want to see how this fares against a i7 3960X and 4 x GTX 680's , you can see that in this thread:

In short, yes it is a very big improvement in gaming, and everything else.

Hope that helps :)

OMG! That is a kickass system!

So I am looking at about +15fps of in game increase.

I think I am just going to wait until next black friday and get a new mobo, CPU, and another 7970. Spend around 700-800.

If you dont mind me asking, how much is your tower worth?

I cant help much in a way of saying how much better it was as i didnt benchmark my 965 before i put in the 8350. I do know that gaming the fps did go up some and at some points in some games it would drop on the old chip. But the new one is solid fps, no drops at all.

My speed for HDD access when up LOTS. 30MB at 4k and over 100MB at higher K. So im happy with that.
