Gun control

What really pisses me off is when the talking media heads and posturing politicians immediately (and I mean within 8 hours immediately) turn this whole tragedy into a platform for their gun control agenda.  I wish somebody would shoot them with a sling shot or pellet gun.

So when do we start outlawing a bow and arrows

Sticks and rocks

knives

Baseball bats

4 cell Maglites

Rolls of quarters

Screwdrivers

These are all implements that can be used to kill. It does not matter if it is one or a hundred, killing of another being is a choice made by the person doing the killing. These items just will not jump up and kill someone and neither will a firearm. Its a choice. The asshat that killed the Adults and children in Connecticut could have just as easily killed just as many or more with a 6 shot revolver instead of an AR-15. Lets consider the outcome had he chosen to make a suicide vest and put all of the children in one room and flipped the switch. Would we be having this discussion about outlawing a suicide vest? Outlawing the switch that was used to trigger the device? The wire used to send the signal? The well know garment companys product  he stuffed full of explosives? Where does it end.

People kill people ..........People kill people and will find a way no matter the circumstance. We have done a fine job of it over the past few thousand years. The method with which it happens will change, will become more personal again but it will still happen even if if guns are outlawed.

I know this is about firearms in general, but lets actually talk about the impact that violent video games have.

Not alone ind you, but coupled with what passes as parenting these days.

Coupled again with a lot of people never actually experiencing life, working for a living and actually failing here and there to know lifes trivialities.

To you younger people (under 30; well this works with everyone, just add the appropriate number of generations)) think of the morons you went to school with, these people now have kids...

We're trusting those asshats to rear a child, how bad are their children going to be and their children and so on?

guns don't kill people, People kill people. I remember back in the age of Warcraft 3 (not the mmo, the RTS) when you clicked one of the dwarfs so many times he would say "guns don't kill people, I DO". That being so true and something that the politicians cannot get through there head as I am under the impression that they live on, being very sarcastic, mars and make laws with the assistance of the giant cube from Travelers guide to the galaxy.... life/universe + everything = 42..... There logic just cannot be that of a normal human being.

Take away the ability to carry guns. Crime will increase. There are people that will break the law regardless.

Take away the second amendment. Invasion potential will increase.

That is something else I want to touch before I end this rant / reasonable post. The safety of America depends on 2 factors in general. 1 is a robust defense network. which  president Obama has done nothing but cut finding too. The other is our right to bear arms. This is not just a pretty little amendment, this protects us. Every country that has considered invading us has to remember one thing. our second amendment. They will not only break through the US military and forces that we have stationed here.. they will have to deal with those of us that believe firmly in this amendment.

ok. now I am going to wipe the sweat of my brow, and get back to playing with my new radiator.

My thoughts, Boinker

People are going to want to kill other people. Plain and simple. Should guns be as available as they are now......no. When you can buy a gun at a place like walmart, it might be time to step it back a notch. Should people be able to buy guns that can pierce a tank....no.

Should people be able to buy a hand gun for protection and a rifle for hunting, sure. (please don't take the choice of guns out of context...they are a random choice)

I feel like the issue with gun control is kind of a joke though. It is one of those things where if you build a better mouse trap, they will find a smarter mouse. Except the cheese is actually a ar-15 : P . The more regulation the government forces, the more likely that illegal gun trade will go way up. But at the same times if you don't regulate it well enough, then some real shi!t heads will get their hands on them.

In short, gun control is way too complicated to come up with a good answer. The best answer I have heard is that we should all burn the guns and go back to using sticks.

I carried an m16A1 with attached m203 40mm grenade launcher for most of the 7 years I was enlisted in the army...so I love blowing sh;);)t up and ripping up things on full auto, as I was trained to do...but i am not at war, and have had my fill of combat training, and therefore have no reason for keeping anti-personnel type armament at my house...on the other hand, I absolutely love my browning a bolt h&h .375 mag and have plenty of plinkin fun with my browning .380 auto...they are more than enough for me to take down any game in north America, and protect my home and family...i still love to target shooting occasionally at our local rifle range and know that there are other folks like me that enjoy the fun of popping caps and comparing marksmanship skills, but I have never seen these folk not being respectful and safety conscious of there weapons and others...these people are not the problem, and do not deserve to be cut off from their hobby enjoyment because of the insanity of others...there is always going to be insanity in the world, and random acts of violence caused by the few, but that doesn't make the many (the responsible majority) at fault and should not preclude them from enjoying life in the way they see fit...our current gun laws are plenty good enough IMHO, so why not put more time, money and energy into helping the mentally ill, and determining who are the few whom we should all be wary of...?
