Stonerboy779 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 At $10 the difference definately go the 7870 it will be worth the $10 Edit: $270 for a 7870, dirt showdown and free shipping I am seriously jealous that is a mad deal. A 7850 costs $300 here and it's another hundred for the 7870

MacLeod Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Im a big believer that you should buy as much GPU horsepower as you can afford. If you can afford a 7870 then that is what you should get. Youll be glad you did later on down the road when youre not having to worry about upgrading. I bought the fastest single card available a few years ago and its still maxing every game on the market. It is getting a little long in the tooth and there are a couple games where Id like more frame rates so Im already saving up for an 7970 thatll hopefully last me several years as well. A 5870 maxes every game on the market? I have two of them in CXF, and I am skeptical. You max BF3 on Ultra at 1920x1080 with your 5870 and get >60FPS? IVIYTH0S Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 7870, join the TF club with me!! (just bought this super deal) A 5870 maxes every game on the market? I have two of them in CXF, and I am skeptical. You max BF3 on Ultra at 1920x1080 with your 5870 and get >60FPS? I say NOPE, my 5970 was Vram starved in just skyrim (modded of course) so his 5870 has the chance to be also....or just GPU power insufficient. No way. It'll run out of texture memory long before it can max everything out today. That said, it'll nearly max out everything. My 5970 certainly does as long as I don't exceed 1 GB of memory use per GPU. On topic - for the small difference in price I'd go with the 7870. The more you buy now the less you will be tempted to upgrade later.

That's a filthy filthy lie and you know it. Once you have the "itch" it never goes away. Worst case senario, Nyt.

I would still have my 4870X2 if I hadn't gotten this 5970 for essentially free.
