Uninstall all items that start with Nvidia in the Control Panel (Nvidia driver first), then reboot (you may have to reboot a couple of times).
Use Driver Sweeper to get the last of any Nvidia remnants uninstalled, reboot.
Do a clean install of Nvidia drivers.

That's the surest way of getting clean drivers on there.

A fresh install of windows is about as clean as you can get with driver installs.

I try to install the 285 drivers later.

The other, of course, involves orcs."

just an update to this thread. I put in my old GTS 250, and it works flawlessly. This was definitely a hardware failure.

What sucks is that I can't RMA it since I don't have the receipt even though I freaking registered it. PNY has the worst return policy.

The best thing I would suggest is put in a graphics card that you know works and test everything out. Heck, if I hadn't had my GTS 250 I'd probably have gotten some cheap one for $20 just for back-up.
