Haven't played this and guess that it's getting long in the tooth age wise, but $5 seems like a bargain.

It actually holds up quite well graphically and the game has outstanding atmosphere. I never finished it though because I felt the viewing angle (awkward above-the-shoulder) and controls were a bit wonky.

+1 about the controls. It actually holds up quite well graphically and the game has outstanding atmosphere. I never finished it though because I felt the viewing angle (awkward above-the-shoulder) and controls were a bit wonky.
Uses mouse acceleration which made it very difficult for me to aim preciously. Since you are supposed to shoot off appendages that may be moving, it can be very annoying to not have 1:1 control. Gave up because it was just too frustrating for me, and I've got plenty of other games I haven't played yet. The viewing angle was annoying, but I was getting use to it.
Best way I can think to describe it, and don't necessarily take this as a knock on the game, just my impression, is as a poor PC port. Changes that would have really helped it on the PC, like changing the FOV and removing or making mouse acceleration an option, were not made. Don't know about the sequel.
