bp9801 Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 http://movies.ign.com/articles/121/1213829p1.html I really have no idea why Starship Troopers needs to be remade, considering it was released in 1997. Sure, the movie was almost nothing like the book, but Paul Verhoeven delivered a very good satirical film that has gained a considerable following over the years. The two sequels did pretty much suck, but what can you except from something that is straight-to-video? Hopefully the remake is alright. Producer Neal Moritz has hired the writers behind X-Men: First Class and Thor so it has the potential. I just don't see why you need to remake a movie that is just barely fifteen years old... Waco Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I doubt it'll capture the tone of the original...but I'm hopeful. :-)
bp9801 Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Yeah, I mean, I'm hopeful the new movie is good just judging by the talent of the writers working on it. I like the Starship Troopers movie because it makes fun of so many things and is different than the book. I guess we'll have to see though. Black64 Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Has any one seen the remake of spider-man 1? It's now called the ultimate spider-man or something like that? Its the same story just with different actors. Same kinda thing and I am just like what are they thinking?
Bosco Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I loved the first one so it will be interesting on how this turns out.

flareback Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I liked Starship Troopers. I don't see the need for a remake.
Krieg1337 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Well the first was great, second was pretty cool(IMO anyways) while the third one absolutely sucked.
ClayMeow Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I too loved Starship Troopers (for its hilarity, mocking tone, and Denise Richards). Like most of you, I'm skeptical about this, but I'll remain hopeful for the time-being.
bishop245 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 First was good the second and third took the express elevator to the sewers. I don't see why it such a surprise for people when hollywood and musicians, don't have the ability to come up with much original stuff anymore. If you look at the past few years you can see lots of remakes of movies and music. I have givin up on expecting good things from movies, so I am surprised how good some movies have been in the past few years.

I'll be honest and might even anger a few people on here, but I honestly thought Avatar was not that great. I don't understand how it is the best selling movie. Something like Star Wars(original ones) completely knocks it down in most aspects except special effects. Then again people these days seem to be fascinated by special effects and don't care much about story. There are still some average movies being rolled out, but mostly they are crap.
