jjjrmy Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I'm considering this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817709023 It's modular and has a blue LED fan. I've never bought a PSU before and currently I'm using a 680W PSU that I found in the trash. Right now I have an Antec EarthWatts 650W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015&cm_re=earthwatts_650w-_-17-371-015-_-Product Is what I'm looking at a good PSU and is it better than what I currently have? Also my specs are: Mobo: Foxcon thing. CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Ram: 4GB DDR2 HDD: 500GB + 250GB GPU: MSI 6850 Cyclone
paulktreg Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Stick with the Antec thing.

jammin Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 You found a working Antec Earthwatts 650 in the trash, that is what you are saying right? If so, then that is a find!

Yeah, I found it in the trash. But it has 3 rails and the other has 2 rails. Is less better?
paulktreg Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 If you feel you can't trust it then go for something like this Seasonic 520W, more than enough for your rig and you'll save the $5.00 on your electricity bill with an efficiency of 87% against the Sunbeams 78% in no time at all. jammin Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) But that is neither modular or has LEDs It's still a sound recommendation. Is it important for your PSU to be modular and have LEDs? I can give you some recommendations for modular units, but the LED thing might be a bit harder (most quality units tend not to use them). paulktreg Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 But that is neither modular or has LEDs Well neither of those are critical. If you want the Sunbeam then go for it, if you want a proven quality power supply that's modular and has LED fan lighting you'll have to pay a little more. Well I'd like modular, but I just don't want to spend a bajillion dollars.
