mumbai_gamer Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Hey guys, i am planning to build my own rig with core i7 930 + GTX460 768MB SLI + 1TB+320GB SATA HDD + about 7 fans. I have zeroed on the Corsair HX850 but few people have told me that a 850 will be an overkill and a HX750 would be just fine. What do you guys suggest? Also i plan to overclock the cards sometime down the road so i intend to buy a PSU keeping that in mind.

Get the HX750... then use the money you save, to get GTX460 1gb in SLI... the GTX460 1gb card = best price/performance card on the market, the gtx460 768mb... Heh.... not so much. I cant stress how much i feel that getting the 768mb version is a bad call. I mean if thats what you really wanna do go for it, but i feel very strongly about getting the 1gb version. As for the PSU... technically you'd be ok with a 650w PSU, but that running at full load you'd be hitting the 550-600w range which of course doesn't leave you much head room to grow with. The 750w would be good, but getting the 850w PSU gives you the option to keep the same PSU the next time you upgrade video cards, or even your whole computer. Also good choice with Corsair, really cant go wrong with them.

Even i feel the 850 will be good in the long run but then the it is scarcely available here so a 750 is what i am most likely to get. Seasonic and Antec are cool too but their warranty has issues here. Perhaps cooler master is my next option.

As well as if you can get your hands on one, Mushkin. Very nice. Antec and Seasonic are great too, too bad there is warranty issues in your country though. Couldnt hurt to look at Cooler Master. They usually have pretty good prices for high quality parts. I would also recommend PC Power and Cooling, as well as ThermalTake for PSU's, Have you thought about the Corsair TX750?? Its a great PSU at a great price. Or perhaps the Cooler Master RS850??
