zonik_mazter Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I have bought a 8800 ultra here in my country. Happily, i received it and tried to test it, bit it didn't worked. Does the oven trick REALLY works? Thanks for your help.
WhenKittensATK Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) I would return it and get your money back. Did they guarantee it would work when you bought it? If the issue with the card is because of a loose connection, then the oven trick might work. Even then it still might be a temporary fix. nVidia_Freak Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 If it's something heat will fix, sure. It worked with my 4870, so it's not just limited to 8800s.
MJCRO Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Eh, doing something like that is tricky, not even worth to do in my opinion. You should just return it back and get a refund.

tkrow21 Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I would only rely on such methods when the warranty is expired. But yes, it has been proven to work.

Bandrew Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1421792 This is the best info that I've found on the subject, and yes it does work... sometimes. but if you want to try it, 385F for 9-10 minutes. Do not try higher temps or more than 10 minutes if you want the card to come out in one piece. Oh, and let it cool for 30+ minutes. maj0rgamer Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 wouldn't put it in the oven. is this card brand new? where did you get it from... can you return it? would atleast do several other things as far as troubleshooting goes before tossing it in an oven: try putting the old card in to see if it still works without changing anything else... if it does, then uninstall the current driver being used and shut down the pc and take out the old card/put the 8800gts back in. let windows install whatever driver and then install over that the latest driver from nvidia's website. scr4wl Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 It definitely works. If you just got the card though I'd return it. This trick should only be used on cards that can no longer be RMA'd.
