They aren't doing it for the sake of being sticks in the mud, but rather they see the long term ramifications of the increased funding. The fact that California is one of the states rejecting federal money is quite a statement considering the crazy battle we just had over the budget. Having a couple billion funneled into the system would have been a godsend if it came with no strings attached. If the federal government really wanted to spend money, it should have simply given a couple billion to each state to do with as they pleased rather than stipulate how the money was to be spent. That would have been far more helpful as each state has different needs and only state government can properly assess what those needs are. It would have also helped with the budget shortfalls many states experienced because of the recession. Unlike the federal government with its deficit spending, state governments all essentially require a balanced budget every year. A few extra billion would have really helped out, but instead we got stuck with deep cuts and tax increases. Not exactly a great way to help the states and the people. However, this isn't the 19th century, no way a State would be able to secede now and get away with it in a direct confrontation against a far more powerful federal government. O'Bama Should never have received the office in my opinion. And everyone was scared as hell to vote another republican in after the one we had started unneeded / unwanted wars and chased after the wrong individual ( yes Bin-Laden is still f'n alive! ) But you can think of that as, He just had to finish something he's daddy started. Personal politics don't apply to following a lawful order. that might work if they had any respect for him... the only reason they do not say so is because they would be arrested. he has called them murderers and will do away with as many of them as he can. it is quite obvious from his past statements that he detests the military. i would hope their loyalty lies with the country they promised to defend and not to some community organizer that is trying to destroy it. many of you attacked me for calling him socialist. many of you attacked me because i said he is in over his head... wall street (the economy) is agreeing with me. hopefully somebody will get the socialists reined in before they flush the entire country down the toilet. He is their leader and they swore an oath to follow the orders of their leaders. They didn't swear to only follow orders of people they like and that like them back. Yes, there are plenty of soldiers who dislike Obama. Guess what? Thousands of them also disliked Bush while they were in Iraq. They still did their job. You're living a dream if you think that the military is going to resist a lawful order based on political stance. Enlisted personnel serve two purposes: To do the job we're trained for, and to follow orders. The only thing that a small group of people disagreeing enough with the incumbent to disobey orders is going to result in will be a lot of Article 15s handed out.
