Are We That Stupid? What Do You Think Of This?

Regardless of the fact that it's a "red herring" argument doesn't mean that it has no merit. Sometimes a point of comparison is needed to put things in a proper light.

Can you deny that the drive-by-media has been harping on the cost of the war while failing to report the cost of other parts of Federal spending?

Why are American citizens forced to pay for Illegal Aliens?

Remember that you aren't protected by the constitution like a citizen until you are a legal immigrant.

These so called "immigrants" are felons under law and should be treated as such.

The next thing you know, people will argue that a child born in the US gets automatic citizenship even though the parents were felons who had no legal standing in the country. That could never happen here!

there's good points and bad points in the statements.

Illegal immigration isn't the only problem sucking money up though. I'd like to see plenty of changes that wont happen. I know two people who are capable of working but are on disability, and you see others all of the time. I think of that crazy woman who popped out six kids, and wanted more and 'accidentally' popped out another 8 and is on welfare/s.s./housing afaik. and disabled somehow <_<

I think some economists have taken a look at this, and over the long term, the only "class" of immigrants who do not contribute more to the system than they take out in socialist security, medicaid, and other benefits are immigrants with less than a high school education. On average, immigrants with a high school education and higher have a net positive effect on tax revenues and economic growth via their output, contributions, and consumption. On that same note, the domestic class that absorbs more government benefits than it pays in is the class with less than a high school education. Seeing as how we can't seem to control the number of illegals in the country, perhaps we can do a better job of focusing on the welfare brats we can keep track of to reduce the drain on the system.

Bravo!

It's funny that Mexicans who come here and bust their arses hanging drywall for crap wages just to feed their families and have a shot at a real life are illegal, yet perfectly capable Americans that mooch the system are not. Maybe funny isn't a good word... It's sad.

Yeah and people always manipulate the system.. Heck I heard a story about a guy who went into a particular grocery store that sells gourmet food and bought it on food stamps... Needless to say he walked out with the food but plenty of people in line weren't happy to see their tax dollars buy the man a gourmet meal. So what do we do... abolish it... meh there are people who do need it.. but what do we do about these people who just milk the cow... we need harsher restrictions on welfare or just welfare reform in general. Not sure where to go there though as I don't know the extent of current restrictions on programs or how they entirely work but I bet if I did I could figure something out. Hopefully Obama or these democrats in congress can figure this out... They always seem to know how to handle welfare a bit better than republicans.

I dont think the illegals are forced to do work for crap wages...here they do it to Underbid the locals and get the works...

the illegals work in groups..they can work for less this way because they can get alot more done in a day...basically make a killing in pushing volumes...

here the hangers work for pennies but make a killing as most of them can hang 1000 sheets compared to the locals 100 or so a day... basically it's alot of work but when you have 15-20 workers in the group and figure that days pay they make out pretty good...this is how they "lock" themselves into work...by doing cut-throat work...

But I do agree that we should cut out the moochers...I know half a dozen people who do it and have become accustomed to doing so...it's like their security blanket in life...

 Abolish it because of one person? How about we think about that? If he blew all his money right away on expensive food, then he wouldn't have much left for later on in the month, which means he would STILL wind up eating crappy food for longer, or less food for longer. Also, you obviously have no idea what it's like to live poor. I don't mean "Man, I wish I could buy these parts for my system, but I have to pay off my credit card this month" poor, but "How am I going to afford food this month and pay the mortgage so we can keep a roof under our heads?"

Yes, the welfare system needs reform. But get an idea of what you're talking about before you start talking out of your ..
