Are we THAT stupid? what do you think of this?

OH! Now I understand!!!

You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much?

Read this:

Boy, was I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war

on terror that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS.

I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them. I also have included the URL's for verification of all the following facts.

1. $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year by state governments.

Verify at: http://tinyurl.com/zob77

2. $2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school

lunches for illegal aliens.

4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and

they cannot speak a word of English!

known as anchor babies.

Verify at: http://premium.cnn.com/TRANSCIPTS/0610/29/ldt.01.html

9. $200 Billion dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.

Verify at: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0604/01/ldt.01.html

10. The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of non-illegal

aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US.

Verify at: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0606/12/ldt..01.html

11. During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as

many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroin and

marijuana, crossed into the U.S. from the Southern border..

Perhaps a little more perspective is needed before everybody starts hopping on the bandwagon.

Do illegal immigrants receive more government benefits than they pay in taxes?

Projected over twenty years, it would seem as though it would cost more money increasing border control measure than it would be to simply let them in, work, and pay their taxes.

I find this thread rather offensive. I know a lot of legal americans with less intelligence than some of the illegal immigrants this thread takes shots at. That one about schools and education is the best. Most of those kids are fluent in spanish and english.

The facts in this message may be accurate, but its conclusion is not. It's trying to say that because the cost of illegal aliens is high, the cost of the war is not. This information doesn't change the cost of the war at all. The cost of the war is the cost of the war, and it's either too high or it isn't. This immigrant information is irrelevant.

It's like saying "This $100 Monster 3' HDMI cable isn't a waste of money. After all, a Ferrari is $150,000!" The two things are unrelated and the Monster cable is still a ripoff.

It's a "two wrongs make a right" mentality and it doesn't work.

Not really though.

I think the point is, if we are pointing fingers at things that we the US taxpayer should not be paying for, or is questionable, most of the things on this list fall into the same category.

I used to be in the military (still on inactive reserve for another year) and we spend a LOT of money on stuff that we don't really need and usually overpay for everything.

But how can you measure the cost of safety and freedom in dollars and cents?

Just saying that there are certain programs that should fall under government spending and certain ones that should not. This list is clearly omitting many, many things that we waste even more money on. It would be interesting to see another list like this of the expenses and hand outs that politicians receive yearly.

Not trying to start a flame war but I'm just saying this isn't apples and oranges.

I don't disagree at all. What I DO disagree with is using this logic to imply that the war isn't overly expensive (or a waste of money, or some other similar assertion).

I look at it this way:

Statement 1: This war on terror is way too expensive!

Statement 2: Yeah, but so is the illegal immigration situation!

Statement 2 may be true, but it does not disprove Statement 1. The same is true here. The fact that illegal immigrants are expensive does not mean that the war isn't. It's a very misleading letter and it preys on people getting worked up about the immigration stuff and not really thinking about the implied conclusion of the letter, which the facts contained there-in really don't prove.

There's another issue at play here. The numbers in the first post simply show the drain in tax money, yet it doesn't show the other side. At least with illegal immigrants we're getting some tangible benefit. What's the benefit to the war? Even if both problems cost the same amount of money, it's still better to be spending money on illegal immigrants than in some silly war.

you really hit the nail on the head with the 1st part of this post....

they show you how the Government and tax payers spend all that money on illegals but they dont tell you how much they make either....

the illegals that work for cash in trade jobs are the ones costing money...

the ones that work in factories or other jobs where taxes are withheld from their checks cant file a tax return being illegal...most of the time (as here in my state) alkot of them have the same Social Security number...

the government keeps all that money they (the illegals) pay in to cover the cost of the money they spend...not sure what the ratio is but there are alot more paying taxes here than non-payers...so in this state we rake in a ton of money...they have let it be well known they will do nothing to fix the illegal population do to the fact they make so much revenue off the illegals...nice huh
