RyderOCZ Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 4 LED's means the CPU is not detected...you either need another CPU to try...or another mobo to try the CPU in.

Hymn Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 BUMP! tried booting without CPU, same symptoms occur....
StephenC Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 The first thing to look at is the CPU. You can try testing your ram in the emachine. But keep in mind that emachine has a proprietary motherboard and bios. You may not be able to get your ram to work in that system good or bad. Without the ability to test/check your components in another system or visa/versa, it will be very hard to pin down the issue or failing/failed part. Hymn Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 is anyone able to help me pin down the problem? ive been working on my computer since the middle of July, and im still working on it, and into october!
GaMBiT Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Hiya, i have the same problem (4 leds on)... just bought this system 3 days ago: dfi lp ut nf4 ultra-d, 3200+ venice, a pair of corsair tccd, xfx 6600gt, and a seventeam 420w psu. I cant boot up, it seems like no cpu is plugged... and i'am thinking that the problem is the bios that dont support venice. But i dont have other processor to test... i just need a winnie for boot up and update my bios, so i can test my venice....

stickx Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Hymn / GaMBit, I had the exact same symptoms that you have. The fans all started and ran, but I was stuck at 4 red LEDs. I took the CPU to a local store and they tested it out - worked fine. I did all the CMOS clearing and everything else this forum recommended to no avail. Then I got a new PSU - an Enermax 565 and everything worked fine. So in my case it was the PSU (originally had a Seasonic S12-430 - and yes it was below the recommended watts). The Seasonic tested out fine with all rails within spec. I guess I am trying to say that even though your PSU is a 550w unit and the volts test okay, you may want to try another one on the *A* list. Yours could be damaged. Good luck, it is aggrivating, but worth the effort.
Hymn Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 i tried my Antec TPII-550W in an older computer though and it turned on. i am not sure if that could even possibly say the PSU is damaged, cuz it turns on another computer. I am so lost! i just want to get my computer assembled, and over with!
