Hi Folks,
got my hands on this 650W SilverStone PSU. Very stable voltage indeed and lots of connections.
Only downside until now: The 80mm fan is really annoying. If this is 29dB as advertised it is the loudest 29dB I've ever come across.
I planned to replace the preinstalled PSU Fan by two more silent fans, one for input (easy to mount on the rear) and one for output instead of the current one.
Today I checked the interior of the PSU and found that it is mechanically impossible to remove the fan. Obviously it was mounted before the circuit-boards were installed and now the case is too crowded to allow an uninstall without removing the whole circuit-board.
The fan itself (12V as usual) is connected through a 2pin plug to which seems to be a small circuit-board for fan regulation.
Has any of you made experiences with this PSU or similar cases and can give me a hint how to get this thing more silent?

Muzikfreakah,
thanks for your reply. That is exactly what I did during the day already before I read your post. And it really helps. The PSU works without an internal fan attached and so it is absolutely easy ... as long as you know what to touch inside the PSU and what not. The disclaimer: Don't try this at your home. If you do, don't blame me for whatever happens.
So now for whom it may concern:
I bought
1x Thermaltake Mobilefan II (USB Fan, adjustable)
1x set of ordinary sticky velcro-tape
for about 20 Euro.
I attached an old 92mm case fan with velcro for blowing air in on the back of the PSU. The USB fan is attached on the outside by velcro as well sucking out the warm air.
Now this rig is pretty silent once again and I'm sure this dualfan-solution is much more beneficial than the initial one!
Anyone wants pics or more details? Feel free to contact me.
Thanks for your help!
