Hey there,
I found this forum when I was looking for an answer so I wonder if any of you could help?

I'm looking to start modding, but I only recently got a Dell sysytem. Is it possible to put the Dell components into a new case, or have Dell got their own special components that won't fit in anything but a Dell case.

What I want to do is slowly build up my own system, flushing out the Dell parts bit by bit starting with the case.

I'd be thankful for any help! laugh.gif

Yes it is. Most parts can be put into other cases. But i wouldent keep the motherboard because the dell's motherboards have their BIOS locked so you cant change it.

actually most companies use proprietary parts which do not fit in other cases, especially the motherboard. The CPU, Video card (if its not onboard), the drives, and the RAM you should be able to reuse but thats it.

please dont take anything anyone says as gosipel. god knows not everyone in here knows what their tlaking about.

It all depends on what kinda dell you got. and what someone was saying dell does usally use a propritery bios which can't be over clocked or changed. so really your best bet would be to keep the dell case, and mod the crap out of it. and build a system on the side. theirs nothing wrong with the dell cases, depending on what you got. but it's nothing a dremel and some paint can't fix.
