Thanks here's where I got it: Link

I actually want to get rid of it because the mouse and keyboard will not fit together on the keyboard tray. smile.gif

Oh, Target. Far cry from David Marks :shake:

Are you using a mouse or trackball? I can't see how a mouse would have enough room on any keyboard tray, but I like my trackball because it doesn't require any room at all.

Speaking of trackballs, is there any way to lubricate the ball? I've seen trackballs that move smoothy, with ball bearings in the socket, but as this is a Microsoft, it doesn't. it's just plastic against plastic. I really like the design of it, though, so I'd rather not have to buy a new one.

It's harder to hide stuff when you've got more hardware.

Any hints on better cable management from TGM for us messy guys? Anyone?

I need everything in my rig so removing stuff won't work. I thought about not using the front panel ports but I really need both USB and Firewire.

I thought about moving my floppy drive to the internal bay but since I have a full side window it would be more obvious.

The two Hitachi 80GB drives are already turned around to hide the data and power cable connections.

I have acquired to shorter SATA cables with 90degree heads which will get rid of some of that glaring red stuff but that's about all I have for now. Of course the two new cables are also red. lol

The new Fortron Epsilon 600W PSU is being installed this week so the blue shrink wrap on the power leads will be gone and hopefully clean up the cluttered look.
TheGeekMistress
only thing i could possibly add to your case ExRoadie, as you have it really nice looking, is to maybe grab some rounded clear sata cables and tuck psu wires around the back as much as possible. like have it come out from around the back of the mobo just where it needs to be to get plugged in.

you may be able to route, with zip ties, the wires, for instance your front ports, route them with zip ties to the structure of the case so it's inline with a hard edge and not so noticeable. hot glue could help you out too.

you have a great looking rig smile.gif

Nice setups everyone!

I can't wait to get my camera fixed and purchase the rest of my parts so I can start showing off my rig.

@TheGeekMistress: When will you be over at my place to clean-up my mess? btw, don't mind the networking cable, 15 customer computers on the floor (last count), and the other spare parts floating around.

btw, don't touch my workbench. I know where everything is. wink.gif

@UncleDave218: Feel fortunate that you have as much as you have at the age you are. I know many a teen around your age that don't have a computer at all.

@ExRoadie: Here are my suggestions:

1. You can get floppy power connector extender cable and route it the same way to get rid of this mess:

2. Your SATA cables can be tied together. Part of the SATA cable going to the bottom drive can be hidden behind the motherboard tray.

3. Moving your second optical drive down one bay will mostly get rid of the severe bend on the yellow rounded cable going to the optical drives.

4. The case support brace is channeled. Hide or route cables through it.

I'll post more things when I get through analyzing your case layout. smile.gif

Somehow my posts are always the last on the page so no one see's them...Oh well.

Those are some good tips Ace, I try to do my best when hiding cables but when you have 5 HD to power and send SATA cable's to it gets hard.
red930
Everyone sees them though they may not respond right-away. smile.gif

I had 6 hard drives (2 x 74Gig Raptor, 2 x WD 250Gb & 2 x Seagate 120Gb drives, along with 4 optical drives, floppy, 6800 Ultra running off of a Abit IC7-MAX3 powered by a PC Power & Cooling 510 in a Lian-Li PC75B full tower chassis. You want to talk about a cable routing nightmare!

I solved the problem by doing what ExRoadie did: Right angled SATA cables. Very easy to route and quite flexible.

The optical drives posed a different challenge. I solved it by rearranging the drives to the following configuration (in order of drive bays from top down):

IDE Cable 0: Sony 16x DVD Reader
IDE Cable 1: Sony 52x CD Drive
IDE Cable 0: Plextor 52x CD-RW
IDE Cable 1: Plextor DVD-RW

See how it is configured? It's all about imagination. biggrin.gif

Everything else was cinch.

thanx for the info..... i've got like 4 or 5 40mm fans laying around. i've got one that from delta that blows 12CFM! lol talk about a hair dryer. one problem with my nf2 and using that 40x20mm fan is that i have a product called 3D Edge Fan and it would prohibit me from using a talk fan. so what i did was, i bought two of those passive zalman NB heatsinks, and i'm going to mod it to fit for hieght and width. it's right in the path of the 3D fan for air flow as well. plus those little 40's can get really niosy.

Your system will rock!!.. Shame its not PCI-Ex tho. Be better than mine in most cases.

I was going to get some upgrades this year with the good ol' tax return, but I cant justify it right now. With being a husband and a slave boi its all getting rather expensive to just live right now tongue.gif

The inner g33k is saying that I so need a new CPU and some decent RAM.. I think I need to set up a fund....

P.S. My Machine is a mess, so I wont post it because it would be embarrasing.. well.. I might ... with the right motivation....

smile.gif
TheGeekMistress
motivation ya say...... hmmmm *thinks to herself* lmao

anywho, yah, i'm not upgrading to PCIe yet as i have my X800XT-PE mod and on top of that the socket 939 is all played out. it's dead to AMD now. 2H06 we'll see the intro of the M2 socket running DDR667 HT bus, new nvidia chipset, and DDR2-667 integrated mem controller.

i did this mid bump upgrade b/c it's basically getting rid of my cpu bottleneck for my vid card. on top of that, the mobile 4000 will give me a high frequency than my mobile xp2600. my xp2600 tops out at 2.6ghz and the A64 4000 starts out at 2.6ghz smile.gif

in about 2H07 i'll do a M2 cpu, mobo, DDR2 ram 2gig, and PCIe vid upgrades. by then chipset/mobo and cpu's will have matured and i'll know which to buy for overclocking performance and modding.

Alright, then, how much would you charge to come over and tidy up the wiring in my PC?

By the way, how old are you? tongue.gif

Alright, here's the inside of my rig:

I've come accross a few problems now that I've been up and running a bit:

1. I'm not satisfied with the power of the CPU fan. The heat sink is cool to the touch so it must be doing its job, yet it seems to be moving ridiculously slow. I'm planning on getting a new heat sink and fan, preferably something stylish.

2. I only have one PATA HDD, so the second connector on the IDE cable gets in the way. What I should do is plug the HDD into the plug closest to the motherboard plug. But I'd rather get another SATA HDD and scrap the PATA. The thing is almost six years old.

3. One of the small heat sinks on my video card fell off and I'm not sure how to readhere it. That section of the card is noticeably hotter than the rest of it.

4. My dad's Dell is a minute and ten faster than me in the 32M Super Pi challenge and I want to close that gap. smile.gif

Thx,
with 2 instances of prime running at priority 10, my temps peaked at 40C @ 2.8ghz according to smart gaurdian and MBM5.

And also this radiator can be mounted to the outside too if you prefer that way.

well, it sounds like you need to buy some new parts to optimise your space. like maybe an 18" single pata cable, then you'd not have to deal with a second connector. and don't plug it into the middle connector, thats the secondary connector, not primary, and if you're running your hdd on Cable Select, you'll be messing things up. i'd suggest getting the copper shielded clear plastic rounded pata cables, they are very flexible and blend in well.

your case looks a bit dusty, maybe your fan only needs a bit of white grease in it. do you know how to take apart a fan?

you could use a very very tiny ammount of super glue in the corners of the tiny heatsink that fell off and use a tiny dab of grease in the middle. just set the card on it's backside from the chip and make sure it's level, then place a paper weight on top till it cures. or there's places that you can buy a TIM that's double sided sticky and stick it back on.

you should definitely use a low pressure air hose on your case, the canned air isn't going to help you out. i'd go down to the local garage or tire shop and ask if you can use thier air hose, just make sure to set the pressure to around 50psi max.

I know that water cooling is of the Thermaltake line, but which model is it exactly?

Edit: and with the fan blowing over the rad on the inside, is there any exhaust flow to speak of?
Milkshake_merged
I think canned air will do just fine, I've cleaned messier cases with less than 1 can of air. And his isnt that bad, there isnt much dust in there. If you could see balls of dust then maybe get a vaccum cleaner and follow with air. It just seems like a lot of work to bring your comp to some air hose.
