haha Anita says my case sounds like a runway lol
General Septem here the link I promised ( When your gonna get that 3500+ out of its crib LoL)
http://new.photos.yahoo.com/smolt427/#page1
now when you get to the pic were I'm showing how to test the leds take good note and test every LED and test them when you wire them one by one. long end + short end -
Because it really sucks when you get done and one of the LEDs don't work lol.and the wires well i just use heat shrink from lite to lite then you can wire right to the fan wires or as i do solder then to the fan itself. note the RED like 1.6 and the blues around 4 to 6v if you think there brighter at 6v well I find some will turn green at anything above 5v so when you get the LEDs ask for resisters to get the volts you wont from the 12v feed
Vpower-VLEDs = V-RES
RED=1.6v
Blue 4.0v
Vres=10ma
100 ohms a volt
Awesome, thanks.
What do you mean about my 3500+? lol

I used to use a duct before I got water cooling. Its actually pretty effective, but I would suggest that you try to see if there is a way to route it to the front of the case or better yet the floor. I noticed some pretty significant drops with the duct sucking in air from the front as opposed to the top (some sort of thermodynamic thing I assume).
Also another thing that helped me out was that I put a 92mm fan on both ends of the duct feeding into my stock fan. I know it sounds silly but I was noticing that the stock fan wasn't pulling hard enough to get the air to the CPU from the other end of the duck quickly. Just my 2 cents.

I would just route it straight across to the sidepanel, no bends and the shorter distance would improve airflow. The second fan would definitely help.
What is that thing on your video card? Looks like a CD-ROM chassis.
poopshotgun
Nov 4 2006, 11:02 AM
I find the top ducting works just great. The processor idles at about room temperature, and maxes out about 10~15C hotter, depending on what room temperature is. I'm not too keen on routing it to the front, I'd have to do some serious cutting. And I never liked the side-routing, I'm in and out of the case too much for that. Besides, the side fan help cool the RAM.
The CD-ROM chassis on the video card is an Arctic Cooling AVC something or the other that I just bought. Works well, and much quieter than the stock fan.

Its actually noticeably more vivid than my Hyundai. The only bummer is that the height isn't adjustible which is why its sitting on the book. I know, so elegant!

Inside. Still not happy with the cable management, but when you look from the front of the case, everthing is clearly off to one side. Damn power leads for the 7900's were too short to route behind the mobo tray and up the crossflow opening.
But is it so much better than it has been in the past.

heh, I still have an Asus sticker on there from my last build. maybe I should take that off.

Oops.
Plans for the summer is complete dissasembly, painting of the interior to white, exterior to british racing green, replacment of interior fans with white and/or green, pondering a way to remove all the seperate mesh bezels with a one piece mesh bezel, stealth the DVD-RW, replace the front panel with nifty power switch and reset switch, add at least 3 120mm fans for summer cooling (gets warm in my house on occassion, no A/C) and remount the 2 HDD's to alow room for the fans, and add a side window with a fan over the craphics cards. I also want to upgrade the stock cooling on those eVGAs, but I don't like the choices I have in that department right now. i will have to cram everything in my old Antec Lanboy probably while I work on that project. That should be fun.

I figure that if I can put it on, I can take it off. it is all a matter of how much elbow grease I am willing to expend.
Sort of. I figure that that while will reflect color nicely, and the fan that came on the Zalman cooler I have is green, so no more blue for me. It implies Intel. Intel is EVIL!

And I also always have loved British Racing green. Damn sexy color.

wheels attached

fill port showing
drain port showing
valves, now instead of wasting tubing I just use up 10inches of tubing when i change waterblocks. water flow seems to be fine with these little valves.

I have the same case. I used the carbon fiber film which looked ok, but not as nice as the brushed chrome or the machine turned film would have been.
Here's the drive cage after I applied the film.
carholmes
Dec 1 2006, 09:20 PM
Yea i would think the carbon fiber and a silver case would kind of look wierd. I think the brushed chrome would look the best out of the other films. Yea I'm definitly gonna do that.
I think it would look good if you had a black case and you did all the drive cages. I bet it was a pain to apply that stuff, you know with the bubbles and making it conform to that indentation in the middle. Is that film easy to take off without any residue?
ReelFiles
Dec 1 2006, 09:53 PM
You're right, it did look weird;

Haven't tried taking it off, but it applies fairly easy. It stretches a little, so you can just contour it to any bumps and indents. Bubbles can form if you aren't careful but you just poke them with a needle and push the air out of the hole.
I watched these videos first, they are supposed to be for the case skins, but it's the same principle.
http://www.polygfx.com/video.phpHere's a few pics of my elcheapo HTPC that I used the carbon fiber film on as well;

Sorry about the small pics, but photobucket sucks, there's no custom resize feature and I can't be bothered to re-upload them, right now I gotta go to work in 4 hours. Gotta get to bed soon.

Nice, I like the blue window on your wavemaster, it looks really good bolted on the outside like that. and the tsunami doesn't look that bad(good decision on gettin the non window version, while I'm stuck with a window with a giant thermaltake logo) What case do you like more the wavemaster or the tsunami?
ReelFiles
Dec 2 2006, 02:32 AM
The side panel for the WaveMaster I bought, I didn't mod it myself, I like it a lot too. I didn't think the window on the Tsunami was bad at all, nice and strong, and I like the shape of it. The Tsunami is laid out better and has good airflow but the WaveMaster is built stronger with crap airflow, it needs room for some 120's. I was actually pleasantly surprised that the WaveMaster has a removable mobo tray, that was one of the things I really didn't like about the Tsunami.
